GREETINGS
Welcome to the online site for All Saints Anglican Church. We're located in Amarillo, the heart of the Texas Panhandle. All Saints is a traditional Anglican parish, using the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.
Though secular culture is often unsettling, our church is rooted in Scripture, grounded in history, and anchored in Christ. Our services combine the best of Anglican tradition with a warm, family atmosphere and lively worship.
If you'd like to get an idea of what our services are like, click on the illustration to the left. Using Adobe Acrobat Reader, you'll be able to open and view the bulletin for this week's service.
The message of All Saints
First, All Saints is a church that lovingly insists that people repentant of their sins. Rather than polling the masses and tailoring our message to the whim of the moment, we demand that people conform their lives to God's unchanging standard, that regimen of belief and conduct that's binding upon all men. We believe people want to know what they must do and what they must believe to inherit the kingdom of God. So, we graciously affirm what has always been believed at all times, in all places, by all of God's people.
Second, All Saints affirms that salvation is both an event and a process. Yes, we are Christians, but we haven't arrived at our final destination. Like Bunyan's Pilgrim, we are on a journey into God's presence. To get there, we must war against sin, the flesh and the devil. And this requires discipline and fortitude. We are athletes (I Cor. 9:27) and warriors (Eph. 6:10-11). Therefore we challenge people to enter the fray and shun the comfortable life that demands nothing and delivers nothing.
Third, All Saints provides the indispensible resources that assist the Christian in his journey to God. ASAC is a vessel of ancient wisdom, a conduit of grace. We did not create this message, or invent the resources. We received them from Christ and our spiritual ancestors. Therefore we are confident in providing people with a pattern of life and worship to guide them to God.
Fourth, All Saints is unapologetically masculine and decidedly non-sentimental. One man observed, "Your men don't rub belly hairs during worship." He is correct. We do not ask our men to hold hands and sing songs about caressing Christ's face and being ravished by Christ's love. Instead, we call our men to serve a robust and red-blooded Man, the Man Christ Jesus. We summons them to live a life of self-denial, in service to their wives, their families and the world.
Fifth, All Saints affirms that two thousand years of collective wisdom are essential to the Christian life. No individual can dispense with the history and teaching of the Church and anoint themselves the sole arbiter of truth. We are the custodian, charged by God with the task of preserving and communicating what has been passed down through the ages.
Thank you for taking time to visit us on the web. We look forward to meeting you.
– Fr. Doug
